HYDERABAD: Megastar Chiranjeevi has broken his silence. He will foray into politics and make a big-bang announcement on the launch of his party in a week, he said on Monday. Chiru took the first step on Monday before the launch, inaugurating his party office at the crack of dawn on Monday.

The office is located in the up-market Banjara Hills area in Hyderabad.

The inauguration was a quiet affair. He performed a special pooja but kept the guest list to the bare minimum. It included few cine actors, some rebel leaders from the Congress and the TDP and family members, said a close aide of the actor.

Two rebel leaders — Congress MP Harirama Jogaiah and former TDP minister Kotagiri Vidyadhara Rao — featured in this list. The family members present included the mega star’s mother Anjana Devi, wife Surekha, brothers Pavan Kalyan and Nagendrababu, son Ram Charan Teja and brother-in-law Allu Aravind. His close aides Dr Mitra and KSR Murthy also graced the occasion.

“We performed the ritual as elders felt that it was an auspicious time to enter the party office. We will launch our party in a big way. There will be a media conference in seven to eight days and a public meeting after that. I will take a decision on the venue and date of the launch”, he said.

The actor is expected to hold his first public meeting on August 22 which happens to be his birthday. According to sources, Chiru camp has zeroed in on temple town Tirupati for the public meeting. Allu Aravind’s recent visit to examine a couple of venues in Tirupati backs this argument.
