Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government will examine the recommendations of hike in pay announced for the Central government employees, to give its own employees a better deal.

"The Centre had on Thursday announced to accept the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. We are examining that," Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh told reporters after unfurling the national flag at the police parade ground here on Friday.

In the last four years, several steps have been taken by the government in favour of the state employees and as far as hike in salary is considered the government is examining what can be done, Singh who also holds the Finance portfolio said.

The UPA government on Thursday announced an average increase of 21 percent in salaries of over 50 lakh government employees with effect from January 1, 2006, while adopting the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.
