The Reserve Bank of India`s reference rate for the US dollar depreciated 0.17% to Rs 42.40, as against Rs 42.33 on the previous working day, weighed down by concerns of currency purchase by exporters after the rupee slumped to a 13-month low while oil refineries reduced their dollar purchases ahead of high crude oil prices.

The Rupee depreciated 0.58% to Rs 65.84 against Euro on May 15, 2008, compared with Rs 65.46 on May 14, 2008.

As illustrated in the table below, the rupee declined marginally by 0.31% against the Great Britain Pound to Rs 82.5761 and depreciated 0.37% versus 100 Japanese Yen at Rs 40.51.
