Hyderabad : The contentious Telangana statehood issue rocked the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the third consecutive day on Friday leading to the suspension of 11 Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members for three days for stalling the proceedings.
Continuing their strident posturing, TRS MLAs frequently stormed the Speaker's podium and raised slogans in support of their demand for tabling an official resolution in the House favouring creation of separate Telangana state.
As soon as the House assembled for the day, MLAs of the sub-regional party, waving placards and raising slogans, surrounded the podium and insisted on introduction of Telangana resolution.
Speaker K R Suresh Reddy initially adjourned the House for 15 minutes in a bid to restore order.
After the House re-assembled, the inconclusive debate on Telangana issue was resumed with CPI(M), CPI, BJP and MIM members participating in it. The entire opposition blamed the ruling Congress for complicating Telangana issue and sending contradictory signals.
