No package for Gujjars in Rajasthan budget
Jaipur : Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Monday did not announce any special package for Gujjars in her budget speech as promised to the community last year.
However, Raje proposed to enhance women quota in Panchayati Raj institutions' from 33 per cent to 50 per cent.
She said it has become necessary to raise the reservation for women due to rise in their population in villages.
Regarding the Gurjar issue, Raje clarified that a high- powered special package committee headed by Ramdas Agarwal, the BJP treasurer and Rajya Sabha MP, has not submitted its report yet. "As soon as the report is submitted it would be adopted," she said.
Later Raje told a press conference that her government was on a strong foot and could initiate a number of projects on its own.
"I presented my budget before the union budget because I want to begin early and complete the budget task at the earliest," she said.
The state is financially extremely solid and it is devoted to common man specially poor, she said.
