Bangalore engineer grilled for terror links

A software engineer, who was arrested here on Thursday night on suspected terror links, is an important person in the hierarchy of banned outfit SIMI and figures in connection with the case relating to a network in Hubli, police said on Friday.Mohammad Yahya Kamukutty, who holds a B. Tech degree from the National Institute of Technology in Kozhikode in neighbouring Kerala, was on Friday subjected to intense interrogation to ascertain whether he had other associates who were part of the recently busted terror network in the city.''We are still interrogating him and are trying to elicit all information about his links and plans,'' police said while refusing to divulge details.A native of Mukam in Kozhikode District, Kutty, who is in his late 20s, took his B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering and was previously employed with GE software.Yahya at present is unemployed'', police sources said.Alok Kumar, DIG of Corps of Detectives (CoD), said Kutty was an impersonate in the SIMI structure and figured in the case relating to a terror network that was recently busted in Hubli.In the wake of certain 'disclosures' made by Kutty, a Corps of Detectives (CoD) team would shortly be visiting Kerala to gather further information, the sources said.
